Colombia Gold and Porphyry Project
MDRU has initiated a 3 year project on the gold metallogeny of Colombia, focusing on the Middle Cauca belt, Antioquia/Caldas and on the California-Vetas gold district (> 14 Moz Au) in the Eastern Cordillera, Santander. The main project aim is to significantly improve the understanding of characteristics, timing, tectonic setting and igneous associations of gold rich porphyry and epithermal style mineralization. Most students and senior researchers on this project are Colombian nationals which underlines our commitment to international collaboration and training.

Specific project themes include:
- • Paragenetic evolution of mineralization and alteration at the La Bodega/La Mascota deposit, California-Vetas district
• Timing of different styles of alteration and mineralization and relationship to magmatism in both the middle Cauca belt and California-Vetas district.
• Regional structural setting of porphyry mineralization and relative timing of deformation and mineralization.
• Geochemistry of igneous rocks and relationship to porphyry style mineralization
